The EU Data Act is a key pillar of the European Union’s data strategy, aiming to regulate access to, use of, and sharing of data generated by Internet of Things (IoT) devices and related services. To support its Data Act readiness efforts, Tuya has conducted a structured EU Data Act–related assessment with the involvement of an external third party. The assessment reviewed Tuya’s approach to addressing selected obligations under the EU Data Act, including aspects related to data access, transparency, data export, and user-authorised data sharing. Based on this assessment, Tuya has further developed its internal framework and implementation approach to address relevant requirements under the EU Data Act and to support its customers in preparing for the new regulatory obligations.
