As one of the world’s leading telecommunications providers, Orange has been a leading voice in digital transformation. In November 2021, François-Gaël Ottogalli, Orange’s Chief Technology Innovation Officer, IoT for B2C, attended an online forum hosted by Tuya Smart (NYSE: TUYA), a global IoT development platform service provider, and shared insights on the opportunities and challenges faced by network operators in today’s IoT industry.
Orange has over 217 million customers and employs 150,000 people worldwide. B2C is Orange’s primary market, but it is now targeting the B2B market, offering IoT for smart businesses.
The customer is at the heart of the Orange experience. It wants its technology to be inclusive, useful, and available to everyone. Its global footprint covers 29 countries, and it has begun to expand its IoT offerings into France with its Maison Protégé and it recently launched new online services in Spain. Its mission is to become one of the key IoT players in Europe.
The home of the future is a key part of its 2025 mission plan. As IoT has been identified as one of the market differentiators, Orange will focus on connectivity, innovation, and services, along with a managed home. Wi-Fi and 5G will also be key factors in the smart home of the future.
Having partnerships across the board is becoming more and more critical. It is the only way to keep up with the evolving needs of the customer and to provide a seamless user experience.
Orange partnered with Tuya to extend the reach of IoT smart products in the European market. The partnership jointly promotes the connected home concept with a wide range of smart home products, including light bulbs, smart sockets, and IP cameras, all connected and controlled by a single mobile app developed by the Tuya platform, Orange Smart Home.
“At Orange, we continue to offer best-in-class services to end-users. We can imagine in the future that connectivity will make possible even more services. By combining our seamless user experience and by partnering with platforms like Tuya, connectivity will be a great area for growth of quality services,” said François-Gaël.
With the ever-increasing prevalence of smart devices, IoT security and data privacy is an issue of high concern. Tuya's rigorous implementation of data protection policies really made the company stand out in the array of IoT companies. Outside of Tuya, everything is still quite fragmented. Tuya can help to bring all these devices together. Orange selected Tuya because its platform is easy-to-use, reliable, and secure.
